STF Publishes Grievance Mechanism to Drive Worker Welfare across Tuna Supply Industry

STF publishes its Grievance Mechanism to drive worker welfare across the tuna supply industry

The Seafood Task Force is helping to drive worker welfare across the tuna supply industry with the publication of its Grievance Mechanism for vessel owners and fleets.

Available to download here,  the Mechanism incorporates an extensive set of policy and procedure guidance tools, based on the Seafood Task Force Code of Conduct.

Board Director and Head of Seafood Task Force's Tuna Sub-Group, Christa Svensson, comments: “We’re delighted to be able to publish these vital guidelines for the industry, which include auditable standards and a bank of advisory tools, to help ensure that policies and procedures can be put into practice. A central point for help and resources, the mechanism can be scaled for global application.

Worker voice, health and safety and responsible recruitment are fundamental to the work of the STF and we were determined to build on the Task Force’s success in the shrimp supply chain, adapting and developing an audit protocol and standards for the world of wild capture for tuna.”
